Author: medicalhalo

Clofazimine has both bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects. As an antibiotic drug, it mainly kills pathogens by inhibiting the activity of bacterial RNA polymerase, thereby achieving the effect of treating respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and other diseases caused by sensitive bacteria. At the same time, clofazimine can also interfere with the nucleic acid metabolism of mycobacteria, inhibit their replication and growth, and show antibacterial effects. This dual action makes clofazimine excellent in the treatment of infections such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae. However, it should be noted that clofazimine must be used strictly in compliance with medical advice to ensure safety and effectiveness. Therefore, clofazimine is both bactericidal and bacteriostatic.
