What are the side effects of aflibercept?

In a trial study of aflibercept (Ziv-aflibercept) combined with irinotecan, a range of possible side effects were observed. Among them, the most common side effects include neutropenia, diarrhea, hypertension, leukopenia, stomatitis, fatigue, proteinuria, and asthenia. Like all therapeutic proteins, aflibercept carries potential immunogenicity risks. Serious allergic reactions were reported in the group receiving aflibercept combined with irinotecan, but the incidence was low at 0.3%. In addition, venous thromboembolic events (VTE), mainly composed of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, were observed with an incidence of 9%.
