It can assist in the preoperative treatment of edema caused by congestive heart failure, drug-induced edema, central epilepsy, chronic simple glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and acute angle-closure glaucoma that requires delayed surgery to reduce intraocular pressure. Acetazolamide tablets may prevent or improve symptoms associated with acute mountain sickness in climbers attempting rapid ascents and in climbers who are highly susceptible to acute mountain sickness despite gradual ascents.

Contraindications for taking acetazolamide tablets

1. It is prohibited for those who are allergic to acetazolamide or any excipients in the preparation. Acetazolamide is a sulfonamide derivative. There may be cross-sensitivity between acetazolamide, sulfonamide drugs and other sulfonamide derivatives.

2. It is contraindicated in patients with reduced serum sodium and/or potassium levels, significant kidney and liver disease or dysfunction, adrenal failure and hyperchloric acidosis. This drug has a risk of hepatic encephalopathy, so it is contraindicated in patients with liver cirrhosis.

3. Acetazolamide tablets may allow organic angle closure, and worsening glaucoma is masked by reduced intraocular pressure. Therefore, long-term administration is contraindicated in patients with chronic non-congestive angle-closure glaucoma.

4. Since Acetazolamide tablets will increase the concentration of high blood sugar or urine sugar, patients with diabetes need to use the drug with caution, and those with acidosis or liver and kidney dysfunction should use the drug with caution.

Acetazolamide tablets

1. Glaucoma: The dosage range for the treatment of chronic simple (open-angle) glaucoma is 250mg to 1g, usually administered in divided doses. When treating secondary glaucoma and lowering intraocular pressure before surgery, it should be taken orally, 1 tablet at a time, once every 4-8 hours, usually 2-3 times a day.

2. Epilepsy: The recommended total daily dose is 8-30 mg/kg, administered in divided doses. If administered in combination with other anticonvulsants, the recommended starting dose is 250 mg, once a day.

3. Congestive heart failure: The starting dose is usually 250-375 mg, once a day, 5 mg/kg in the morning). If, after the initial response, the patient fails to continue losing edema fluid, no additional doses are needed, but the drug can be stopped for a day to allow renal function to recover.

Acetazolamide tablets

1. Systemic reactions: headache, malaise, fatigue, fever, pain at the injection site, flushing, growth retardation in children, flaccid paralysis, allergic reactions.

2. Digestive system reactions: gastrointestinal disorders, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

3. Nervous system reactions: drowsiness, abnormal sensation (including numbness and tingling of limbs and face), depression, excitement, ataxia, confusion, convulsions, dizziness

3. Allergic skin reactions: including urticaria, photosensitivity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis.
