Qlosi eye drops are a prescription drug used to improve near vision in adults with presbyopia. Patients need to follow a series of important precautions before, during and after taking the drug.

Precautions before taking Qlosi eye drops

1. Medical evaluation and contraindication screening

(1) Confirm the indications: Make sure you are diagnosed with presbyopia and your age meets adult standards. Not intended for use by children or teenagers.

(2) Check for contraindications: Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergies to pilocarpine or any ingredient in the formula of this product. People with known allergies are strictly prohibited from using it.

(3) Comprehensive eye examination: It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive eye examination, especially retinal examination, before taking the medicine. This is particularly important in patients with a history of retinopathy, as rare retinal detachments have been reported with the use of miotic agents.

2. Communicate with doctors about health status

(1) Inform existing diseases: In particular, state whether you have a history of iritis or active inflammation. QLOSI is not recommended for patients with iritis because it may cause iris synechiae.

(2) Inform the doctor of special status: If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding, you must inform your doctor. There is currently a lack of relevant safety data, and doctors need to decide whether to use it after weighing the pros and cons.

(3) Inform your medication: List all medications you are taking, including other eye drops, oral medications, and over-the-counter medications, so that your doctor can evaluate potential interactions.

3. Personal preparation and cognition

(1) Understand common side effects: Understand the possible side effects, such as temporary blurred vision after eye instillation, headache, pain at the instillation site, and possible darkening of night vision, and be mentally prepared.

(2) Plan daily activities: Since it may affect the clarity of vision, you should plan in advance and avoid using eye drops immediately before fine vision, driving (especially night driving) or operating dangerous machinery.

Precautions during use of Qlosi eye drops

1. Correct eye drop procedures

(1) Clean hands: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before use.

(2) Disposal of packaging: Take out a single-dose vial from the aluminum foil bag and shake gently.

(3) Those who wear contact lenses: Be sure to remove the lenses first. After applying the medicine, wait at least 10 minutes before wearing it again.

(4) Standard eye drops: tilt your head back and look up. Use your index finger to gently pull the lower eyelid downward to create a pocket. Hold the medicine bottle above the eye, squeeze and drop 1 drop of medicine into the pouch. Key: Never let the bottle come into contact with your eyes, eyelashes, or any surface to prevent contamination.

(5) Eye closing and pressing: Gently close your eyes for 1-2 minutes, and use your fingers to gently press the canthus (nasolacrimal duct) on the inside of the bridge of the nose for about 1 minute to reduce systemic absorption of the drug.

(6) Disposable: Single-dose vials are for one-time use. Even if there is remaining medicinal solution in the bottle, it should be discarded immediately after use.

2. Dosage and frequency management

(1) Strictly follow the doctor’s instructions: usually 1 drop per eye, up to 2 times a day. The interval between two doses should be 2 to 3 hours. Do not increase the number of drops or the frequency of medication without authorization.

(2) Sequence of combined medication: If other eye drops need to be used, there should be an interval of at least 5 minutes between different medications to ensure that each medication is fully absorbed.

3. Life management during medication

(1) Vision changes and activity safety: If blurred vision occurs after medication, it is absolutely prohibited to drive, operate machinery, or engage in any potentially dangerous activities until the vision is completely restored to clarity. Special caution is required during nighttime activities.

(2) Be alert to serious signs: Once there are signs of retinal detachment such as sudden flashes of light, an increase in floaters, visual field defects, or a sharp decrease in vision, the medication must be stopped immediately and emergency medical help must be sought.

Precautions after taking Qlosi eye drops

1. Continuous observation and treatment of adverse reactions

(1). Common reactions: mild headache, eye irritation or temporary blurred vision usually resolve on their own. If symptoms persist, worsen, or make you uncomfortable, you should consult your doctor promptly.

(2) Recording and reporting: If you encounter any unexpected reactions, record the time and manifestations of their occurrence, report them to the doctor during follow-up consultation, or report adverse reactions through formal channels.

2. Proper storage and management of medicines

(1) Unopened storage: Unopened medicines need to be kept refrigerated (2°C-8°C) and protected from light.

(2) Opened storage: Once the aluminum foil packaging bag is opened, the single-dose vial taken out of the bag can be stored at room temperature (not exceeding 25°C) and must be used within 30 days. If the expiration date is exceeded or the packaging is damaged, it should be discarded.

(3) Safe disposal: After each use, be sure to discard the opened vial and never reuse it.
