Recommended dose of ramelteon (Ramelteon)

1. Routine dose of ramelteon for adults with insomnia

Take 8 mg of ramelteon orally within 30 minutes before going to bed, and the maximum daily dose should not exceed 8 mg.

2. Administration and management

Ramelteon should not be taken with or immediately after a high-fat meal.

Ramelteon dose adjustment for liver and kidney function

1. Renal function dose adjustment‌

There is no need to adjust the dose of Ramelteon.

2. Liver function adjustment

Mild hepatic insufficiency (Child-Pugh Class A)‌: There is no data to support Ramelteon.

Moderate hepatic insufficiency (Child-Pugh class B): Use Ramelteon with caution.

Severe hepatic insufficiency (Child-Pugh class C)‌: Ramelteon is not recommended.

Ramelteon dose adjustment

1. With CYP4501A2 inhibitors

Fluvoxamine is contraindicated when Ramelteon is used in combination with CYP4501A2 inhibitors; caution is recommended if used with other CYP4501A2 inhibitors.

2. Patients with severe sleep apnea

For patients with severe sleep apnea, ramelteon is not recommended.

Recommendations for Ramelteon patients

1. Please avoid drinking alcohol while taking Ramelteon.

2. Do not take other drugs that may cause drowsiness while taking Ramelteon.

3. Do not take Ramelteon with or immediately after meals.

4. Ramelteon should only be taken when a full night's sleep can be guaranteed (no immediate activity is required after taking the medicine).

5. After taking Ramelteon, please avoid activities that require concentration, such as driving and operating machinery, and only perform necessary preparatory activities before going to bed.

6. If insomnia symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7-10 days, please consult a physician in time.
