As a drug for treating gastric acid, which one is better (Nexium) or rabeprazole?

First, after various types of proton pump inhibitors were put on the market, people gradually divided them into two generations based on their specificity, difference, and metabolic characteristics. The first generation includes: omeprazole, lansoprazole, and pantoprazole. The second generation includes: rabeprazole, esomeprazole, and ilaprazole. The differences between the first generation and the second generation are roughly as follows: the first generation has an unstable acid-inhibiting effect (poor effect), short action time in the body (short half-life in the body), slow onset of action, and large individual differences in cure and remission rates. Some people use it with good results, while others may not have any effect. The reason for the first-generation difference is a human genetic polymorphism, a CYP2C19 gene polymorphism. Because the metabolism of first-generation proton pump inhibitors relies on hepatic cytochrome P450 (mainly two isoenzymes CYP2C19 and CYP3A4) for metabolic elimination. Due to polymorphism, some people are strong metabolizers of CYP2C19, while others are weak metabolizers, so there are individual differences in metabolism. The second generation is less dependent on liver P450 metabolism, has small individual differences, has less interactions with other substances, and has better therapeutic effects.

Rabeprazole sodium enteric-coated capsule is a second-generation proton pump inhibitor that blocks gastric acid secretion by specifically inhibiting the H+-K+ ATPase system of gastric parietal cells. It can be effectively used in the treatment of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, anastomotic ulcer, reflux esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, etc. Esomeprazole (Nexium) is a proton pump inhibitor that is often used in combination with antibacterial drugs to form triple or quadruple therapy. It is mainly used to treat peptic ulcers, such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers.

Judging from the clinical response, rabeprazole sodium enteric-coated capsules and (Nexium) are both effective drugs for the treatment of gastric ulcers. Generally, there is not much difference. There is no way to say which one is better. There are only drugs that are more suitable for the condition. Patients are recommended to take them under the guidance of a doctor.
