What about the Japanese prescription drug esomeprazole when combined with antibiotics to eradicate Helicobacter pylori, treat duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori, and prevent the recurrence of peptic ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori?
To observe the efficacy and safety of esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules in the treatment of duodenal ulcer.
Methods 102 patients with duodenal ulcer admitted from December 2009 to February 2012 were selected as the research subjects. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (n=51) was treated with esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules, and the control group (n=51) was treated with esomeprazole tablets. The efficacy of the two groups of patients was observed and compared.
Results After treatment, the ulcer healing rate of patients in the experimental group was not significantly different from that of the control group, P>0.05; the symptom improvement rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the clearance rate of Helicobacter pylori was higher than that of the control group, P<0.05. The difference was statistically significant; 5 patients in both the experimental group and the control group had adverse reactions, and the difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups was not significant and had no statistical significance (P>0.05).
Conclusion: Esomeprazole enteric-coated capsules are effective in treating duodenal ulcer and are worthy of application in clinical work.
