Midostaurin dosage and how to take it
Midostaurin is an oral multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor that plays an important role in the field of hematology and oncology. It can simultaneously inhibit FLT3, KIT, PDGFR and other abnormal signaling pathways, thereby affecting the growth, proliferation and survival of tumor cells. Midostaurin is commonly used to treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and a variety of rare mast cell-related diseases, including aggressive systemic mastocytosis (ASM), systemic mastocytosis with associated blood tumors (SM-AHN), and mast cell leukemia (MCL).
There are certain differences in recommended dosages for different diseases. Patients with acute myeloid leukemia are recommended to take 50 mg twice daily with meals, usually in combination with standard induction chemotherapy and consolidation chemotherapy to improve the remission rate. For patients with aggressive systemic mastocytosis, systemic mastocytosis with associated hematological malignancies, and mast cell leukemia, the recommended dose is 100 mg twice daily, also recommended with food to reduce gastrointestinal irritation and increase bioavailability.
Midostaurin is provided in capsule form. When swallowing, the capsule should be taken whole and should not be broken or chewed to avoid affecting the drug release characteristics. You should try to maintain regularity during medication and avoid missing doses or stopping medication on your own. If you miss a dose, you should take it again within 8 hours after remembering. Otherwise, skip the missed dose and continue the original plan. During treatment, doctors will regularly adjust the dose based on the patient's blood routine, liver and kidney function and other indicators to balance efficacy and tolerance. Since midostaurin is a targeted drug, long-term regular use is a prerequisite for its effectiveness. Therefore, patients should maintain close communication with their doctors and strictly follow the prescription.
