How to avoid the risk of drug interactions while taking Pazopanib
Pazopanib is a multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor widely used to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma and soft tissue sarcoma. The metabolism of this drug mainly relies on the liver CYP3A4 enzyme system. Therefore, avoiding interactions between drugs during medication is crucial to ensure efficacy and safety. First of all, you should avoid taking strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers at the same time, such as ketoconazole, ritonavir (inhibitors) or rifampicin, carbamazepine (inducers), so as not to affect the blood concentration of pazopanib, resulting in reduced efficacy or enhanced toxicity.
Gastric acid-modulating drugs, such as proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole) or H2 receptor antagonists (ranitidine), may decrease the absorption of pazopanib because it requires an acidic environment in the stomach. Therefore, if patients need to take such drugs at the same time, it is recommended to stagger the time of taking pazopanib by at least a few hours, or adjust the treatment plan under the guidance of a doctor.

Pazopanib may increase the risk of QT prolongation or bleeding when combined with certain heart medications or anticoagulants (such as warfarin). Therefore, risk assessment should be carried out before combined use, and electrocardiogram and coagulation function should be closely monitored. If necessary, the dose should be adjusted or alternative drugs should be replaced.
Patients should proactively report all prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, Chinese herbal medicines and health supplements they are using to their doctors during the medication period. Regular liver function testing and blood pressure monitoring are also critical to help promptly detect potential adverse reactions and interactions, thereby optimizing the therapeutic effect of pazopanib and ensuring patient safety.
