Can Tofacitinib treat colitis?

Tofacitinib (Tofacitinib) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) who have an inadequate response to or are intolerant to one or more TNF blockers. Tofacitinib tablets are typically administered at 10 mg twice daily, transitioning to maintenance therapy at 5 mg twice daily for up to 16 weeks. Tofacitinib extended-release tablets are usually taken once daily at 22 mg each time, transitioning to maintenance therapy at 11 mg once daily for up to 16 weeks.

In three major studies, tofacitinib was more effective than placebo in reducing ulcerative colitis symptoms. In the first study of 614 patients with ulcerative colitis, 18% of patients who received tofacitinib 10 mg twice daily had minimal or no symptoms after eight weeks of treatment. In a second study involving547 patients, 17% of patients treated with tofacitinib experienced mild or no symptoms after eight weeks of treatment. In a third study involving 593 patients, 34% of patients who received tofacitinib 5 mg twice daily had minimal or no symptoms after one year of treatment. Additionally, more patients who received tofacitinib were able to reduce their use of corticosteroids.

Tofacitinib has been launched in China and has entered the scope of Class B medical insurance. The common specification is tofacitinib citrate tablets. The price paid by medical insurance is relatively cheap, butthe reimbursement ratio is different in different regions, and the price after reimbursement will be different.
