Abnormal taste is the most common adverse reaction of Gefapixant Citrate, with a relatively high incidence rate. Patients mainly experience metallic taste, hypogeusia, and dull taste. A few people experience temporary loss of taste. This symptom mostly appears in the early stages of medication and is related to the dosage. The higher the dose, the higher the probability and severity of abnormal taste. However, this kind of abnormal taste is temporary and not permanent damage. Most patients will gradually tolerate it and reduce their symptoms while adhering to standard medication. If the medication is stopped, the taste will gradually return to normal in a median of 5-7 days. Only a few patients will recover for a longer time, but there will be no taste sequelae.
