Side effects and common adverse reactions of Lurbinectedin

Lurbinectedin is an alkylating agent that works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells and has been approved for the treatment of metastatic small cell lung cancer (SCLC) that progresses during or after chemotherapy.

Side effects of Lurbinectedin that require immediate medical attention

If the following side effects occur while taking Lurbinectedin, please seek medical attention immediately:

1. Common side effects

(1) Black tarry stool, bleeding gums, hematuria, bone, joint or muscle pain, chest pain or tightness, chills, dark urine, difficulty breathing or labored, Fever, general malaise or feeling of being sick, hoarseness, loss of appetite, vomiting, yellowing of eyes or skin;

(2) Lower back or side pain, nausea, pain or difficulty urinating, pale skin, lighter stool, pinpoint-sized red spots on the skin, sneezing, sore throat, stomach pain or tenderness, thickening of bronchial secretions, difficulty breathing, ulcers, sores or white spots in the mouth, abnormal bleeding or bruising, unusual fatigue or weakness.

2. Uncommon side effects

Swelling of feet or calves.

Mild side effects of rupitidine

If any of the following side effects persist, consult your doctor:

Burning, numbness, tingling, or pain, change or loss of taste, constipation, diarrhea, headache, unsteadiness, or clumsiness.

Leucopenia, lymphopenia, hemoglobin decrease, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia.

(3) Liver

Elevated alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase.

(4) Metabolic system

Appetite decreases and blood sugar increases.

(5) Musculoskeletal system

Musculoskeletal pain.

(6) Nervous system

Peripheral neuropathy, headache.

(7) Kidney

Elevated creatinine.

(8) Respiratory system

Difficulty breathing, cough (including sputum), respiratory tract infection, pneumonia (including lung infection).

Fatigue, fever, decreased albumin, decreased sodium, and decreased magnesium.

Local reactions

Extravasation, including tissue necrosis requiring debridement, has been reported after marketing.

Tumor lysis syndrome

Tumor lysis syndrome has been reported postmarketing.

Rhabdomyolysis

Rhabdomyolysis has been reported postmarketing. Musculoskeletal pain includes back pain, joint pain, extremity pain, musculoskeletal chest pain, neck pain, bone pain, and myalgia.

4. Other side effects

Hematological system

Neutropenia, febrile neutropenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia.

Glossal disorders

Peripheral neuropathy includes neuralgia, paresthesia, peripheral sensory neuropathy, hypoesthesia and hyperesthesia.

Pneumonia

Respiratory tract infections include upper respiratory tract infections, viral respiratory tract infections and bronchitis.
