Natamycin eye drops should not be used casually. It is generally considered to be used to treat fungal keratitis. For example, if there is a history of plant trauma, or a large amount of antibiotics or hormone-type drugs are used, this can easily lead to this situation. However, relevant formal inspections need to be carried out to confirm before considering use.

About fungal keratitis

Fungal keratitis is caused by fungi directly invading the cornea and causing infection. Since my country is a large agricultural country, the incidence of fungal infections caused by plant trauma is very high. Furthermore, due to the abuse of antibiotics and glucocorticoids in recent years, the incidence of corneal fungal infections has been increasing year by year.

About natamycin eye drops

Natamycin eye drops, as a natural antifungal compound, have strong antibacterial effects and previous studies have shown that the incidence of adverse drug reactions is low, and it has a better therapeutic effect in fungal keratitis infections. After 1 month of treatment, the vision correction rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group, and after 1 month of treatment, the eye severity score of the patients in the study group was lower than that of the control group. This suggests that giving natamycin eye drops to patients with fungal keratitis can effectively improve the patient's vision correction rate and reduce the eye severity score compared to voriconazole eye drops.

How to use natamycin eye drops

Please shake natamycin eye drops thoroughly before use. The best starting point for treating fungal keratitis with 5% natamycin is 1 drop, once every 1-2 hours, instilled into the conjunctival sac. After 3-4 days, change to 1 drop each time, 6-8 times a day. Treatment generally lasts for 14-21 days or until active fungal keratitis subsides. In most cases, gradual reduction of the drug dosage every 4-7 days is necessary to ensure elimination of pathogen replication. The initial dose for the treatment of fungal blepharitis and conjunctivitis can be smaller, 1 drop each time, 4-6 times a day.
