It is suitable for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia; patients with coronary heart disease or coronary heart disease and other risk diseases (such as diabetes, symptomatic atherosclerotic disease, etc.) combined with hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia.

Precautions when taking atorvastatin:

1. Blood cholesterol and blood creatine phosphokinase should be checked regularly during medication. Blood aminotransferase may increase when taking atorvastatin. Patients with a history of liver disease should also regularly monitor liver function tests while taking atorvastatin.

2. During atorvastatin treatment, if blood aminotransferase increases to 3 times the normal upper limit, or blood creatine phosphokinase significantly increases, or symptoms of myositis or pancreatitis occur, atorvastatin should be discontinued.

3. If there is hypotension, severe acute infection, trauma, metabolic disorder, etc. when using atorvastatin, attention must be paid to possible renal failure secondary to myolysis.

4. In case of renal insufficiency, the dose of atorvastatin should be reduced.

5. Atorvastatin should be taken with food for better absorption.

6. During statin therapy, combined use with the following drugs may increase the risk of myopathy, such as: fibric acid derivatives, lipid-modifying doses of niacin, cyclosporine, or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as clarithromycin, HIV protease inhibitors, and itraconazole).

7. Diet therapy is always the first method to treat hyperlipidemia. Strengthening exercise and weight loss will be better than any form of drug treatment.

8. Since it can cause fetal dysplasia in animal experiments and it is not clear whether it is excreted in breast milk, it is not recommended for pregnant women and wet nurses.
